IS HELIUM SAFE?
Helium is non flammable, non-explosive and non toxic.
Do not inhale helium.  Helium displaces oxygen necessary for life and causes headaches, dizziness, labored breathing and eventual unconsciousness.
SHIPPING AND FREIGHT COSTS?
We ship all orders by UPS.  We may choose to ship by FEDEX in some instances.  We charge a $6.00 handling charge on all orders because we have no minimum order requirements.  Your order can be as large or as small as you need.  You can request a faster shipping method such as overnight, 2nd Day Air or 3 Day.  These are more expensive shipping methods and will be added to your order total.  Freight costs are determined by shipment weight and destination zip code.  You can visit www.ups.com and get a freight quote.  Residential addresses are a higher freight cost than to commercial addresses.

WHEN WERE BALLOONS INVENTED?
Balloons have been around for centuries.  The modern latex balloon that we are familiar with was invented in New England during the Great Depression.
A chemical engineer named Neil Tillotson was attempting to make inner tubes using liquid latex, which was a new product.  He was having no luck.  In his frustration is cut out a cat's head and dipped it in the latex.  When it dried he found that he had a cat head.  He made 2,00 of these balloons and sold them on the street during a Boston parade.

Foil balloons, on the other hand, were not invented until the 1970's.  They were originally developed for the New York Ballet.  They are made from metalized nylon.
WHERE DOES LATEX COME FROM?
The latex comes from the sap of a rubber tree.  Originally the rubber tree came from the tropical forests  in Brazil and then was taken to Europe.  It is not grown on platations in many tropical countries.  The bark is cut in a way that does not at all harm the tree.  The latex drips from the cust bark and is collected in buckets.
ARE LATEX BALLOONS BIODEGRADEABLE?
A latex balloon is made from 100 % organic material and it is 1--% biodegradeable.  Inflation causes stress which begins the process of decomposition.  This process is accelerated by exposure to sunlight.  Even in the dark, ozone and oxygen are working against the late material.  Within hours, latex balloons begin to oxidize.  You can tell this because it gets a "frosted" look.  The latex balloon will soon begin to break apart.  Research has shown that under similar conditions, latex decomposes as quickly as an oak leaf.
